Sakura-Con 2017 - Hiroshi Nagahama interview

Anime Director and American Comic Book fan Hiroshi Nagahama conducted a joint interview at Sakura-Con 2017 in which Japan-A-Radio was invited to be a part of. He spoke at length about his thoughts on American comics and the Marvel Universe, and on his upcoming collaboration with Stan Lee called “The Reflection”. Nagahama also spoke about the rotoscope process used in the anime series “Flowers of Evil”, which started off the interview.

Japan-A-Radio was given the opportunity to interview the multi-talented creator bamboo. You may know him as the vocalist for the rock duo milktub, who most recently performed the opening theme for The Eccentric Family 2, Naru ga mama, Sawagu ga mama (成るがまま騒ぐまま), but he is also:

Sakura-Con 2017 - Thunderbolt Fantasy Interview

Japan-A-Radio was given the opportunity to interview members of the production team of Thunderbolt Fantasy 東離劍遊紀 at Sakura-Con 2017. Thunderbolt Fantasy is a joint international collaboration between Nitroplus in Japan and PILI International Multimedia, Inc. in Taiwan, and is advised by Good Smile Company in Japan. The primary work of the project is probably best described as a heroic Eastern fantasy glove puppet show, formatted for TV broadcast. Most of the show is recorded using real Taiwanese Bu-Dai-Xi glove puppets, props, and sets.


Sakura-Con 2017 - Isao Machii Interview

Japan-A-Radio had the opportunity to participate in a group interview with Isao Machii, founder of Shuushinryu Iai-Jutsu Hyouhou (the Art of Samurai Sword Technique of the Mastering Mind), as well as a Guinness World Record holder for “Most cuts to one mat (suegiri)”, “Fastest 1,000 sword cuts”, “Most sword cuts to straw mats in 3 minutes”, and “Fastest tennis ball (820 km/hr) cut by sword”. The story of his training and foundation of his new school, including resistance towards his school seems to be lifted right out of the pages of a manga.


Sakura-Con 2015: GARNiDELiA Interview

Japan-A-Radio had the opportunity to participate in a round table interview with Sakura-Con 2015 musical guests GARNiDELiA, which consists of vocalist MARiA and producer toku.

Q: In Japan, song distribution is mainly done by CD, stateside there isn't really all that, its done by itunes, so my question is, what do you think of J-Pop's reception in the states versus its status in Japan and the different types of releases that it causes.


Sakura-con 2016 - Sword Art Online Interview

Sakura-Con 2016 - Takahiro Yoshimatsu Interview

Japan-a-Radio was given the privilege of participating in a round-table press interview with animator and character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu (吉松孝博) at Sakura-Con 2016. He is best known for his work on Cyber Formula GPX (新世紀GPXサイバーフォーミュラ) and Juubei-chan (十兵衛ちゃん) as both character designer and animation director. In the west, he is perhaps better known for his character designs for TRIGUN in 1998.
