
Streaming Changes @ Japan-A-Radio
Hello, everyone. For almost the last 11.98 years, Japan-A-Radio has supported a variety of bit rates and formats for our listeners. On a re-evaluation of our services for performance and cost savings, we have decided to make some changes to the formats we deliver. Full details after the break.
We have commited ourselves to providing a quality station in multiple bit rates and formats. We have decided to make several streaming changes @ Japan-A-Radio. Depending on which services you use, you may be impacted. We have made this decision to further enhance the listening experiences you enjoy from Japan-A-Radio and focusing on the bit-rates and formats of audio most used by our listeners.
Starting at 12:00:00AM MDT, the following services will be discontinued and/or replaced with other services.
24K MP3 - public & subscription streams will be discontinued.
24K AAC - public & subscription streams will not change at this time.
48K AAC - public & subscription streams will not change at this time.
128K MP3 - public streams will see a decrease in capacity on the shoutcast server, but will remain and current capacity on the icecast server. This will only affect you if you're using some other way of tuning in other than using the website tune in links.
128K MP3 - subscriber streams will be discontinued. You will be able to access 192K subscriber bit-rate at no additional charge.
160K MP3 - subscriber streams will be discontinued. You will be able to access 192K subscriber bit-rate at no additional charge.
192K MP3 - subscriber streams will not changed at this time.
224K MP3 - subscriber streams will be discontinued. Subscription plans at this level will point to 192K subscriber bit-rate.
256K MP3 - subscriber streams will be discontinued. Subscription plans at this level will point to 192K subscriber bit-rate.
This will leave the following services active:
24K AAC+ public & subscriber streams
48K AAC+ public & subscriber streams
128K MP3 public streams
192K MP3 subscriber streams
